How do we treat Depression?

Treatment of depression depends on what type of depression you have and how severe it is. Everyone is unique. Treatment differs for everyone depending on their preferences and personal experiences.

For Mild Depression you may just benefit with psychotherapy or medication alone, but for moderate to severe depression usually Psychotherapy and antidepressants are recommended in combination.

For serious and life-threatening depression ECT or Electroconvulsive treatment is a proven option. ECT is under general anesthesia, where you will be given medicine to create sleep and muscle paralysis. Your doctor will then send electric current to your brain to induce seizures. ECT therapy is safe

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is used to treat major Depression in adults who already have tried and failed a combination of antidepressant, psychotherapy or failed or denied ECT.

TMS therapy is a FDA approved, non-invasive treatment for severe major depression. This treatment is done at our office, there is no medicine is given to make you sleep. It does not impair driving and you can return to your daily routine without any restrictions.

During the TMS session, you will sit on a chair, relaxed and a high strength magnetic is placed on your scalp. It creates a magnetic field to stimulate a small targeted brain neuron in the prefrontal cortex.
